BASEBALL FOR SATURDAY JUNE 1

Hi All- An early post this week.

First: We had an ok start to the playoff portion of our schedule. Unfortunately there were conflicts with scout activities and family commitments and a couple teams suffered due to lack of players. I understand its a really busy time of year for everyone but if you all could really make the extra effort to make it to the games, it would be much appreciated. Now that we're in the playoffs teams that don't have enough players have to forfeit. After all the work and effort put in over the course of the season its a huge disppointment for the kids that do come out.

And here's the schedule for Saturday June 1.
10:00 Tee Ball   Orioles vs Angels
9:30-10:30 Coach Pitch   A's vs Indians
10:30-11:45 Coach Pitch   Red Sox vs Cubs
11:45-13:00 Coach Pitch   Giants vs Dodgers
13:00-14:30 Machine Pitch   Phillies vs Diamondbacks
14:30-16:00 Machine Pitch   Mets vs Cardinals
16:00-17:30 Machine Pitch   Marlins vs White Sox
17:30 Senior Kid Pitch   Rangers vs Rays

Second: Thanks to the Seniors for coming out on Sunday and playing against Tajamar. Tajamar came out with a very good team and taking both games of the doublehgeader. Nevertheless we had a great time, it was a beautiful day, and we had the pleasure of seeing some very exciting baseball.

Third: Thanks all for the compliments on switching over from the dirty water hot dogs to the BBQ.

Hope to see you all out there on Saturday.

BASEBALL FOR SATURDAY MAY 25

Good news and bad news. The bad news is that as hard as this is to believe we have reached the end of the regular season. It seems like it just flew by. The good news is that we still have 3 Saturdays of playoff games ahead of us. The format will be that in week one (this Saturday) the top two regular season teams at each level will play each other for the top seed. The remaining teams will play each other to determine who they play the following weeks.

I'd like to emphasize that there are only winners here. The true measure of success is how much the kids have learned and improved their skills over the course of the season. Its been very encouraging to see not only their level of play get better week after week, but also the practice of good sportsmanship, supporting their teammates as well as the opposing teams, building their own confidence, and believing in themselves. I'd like to thank the coaches for emphasizing these priorities above all else, and look forward to seeing these aspects continue during the playoffs.

And with that said, here is the schedule for this Saturday May 25
10:00 Tee Ball   Orioles vs Angels
9:30-10:30 Coach Pitch   Cubs vs Dodgers
10:30-11:45 Coach Pitch   Red Sox vs A's
11:45-13:00 Coach Pitch   Giants vs Indians
13:00-14:30 Machine Pitch   White Sox vs Mets
14:30-16:00 Machine PĂ®tch   Cardinals vs Phillies
16:00-17:30 Machine Pitch   Marlins vs Diamondbacks
17:30 Senior Kid Pitch   Rangers vs Rays

Please make every effort to attend these last few weeks as your team needs you !

Thanks

BASEBALL FOR SATURDAY MAY 18

This Saturday we are going to have a special Cub Scout presence. The Scouts will be selling popcorn to raise funds for their activities. In addition they'll have a special display set up to raise awareness of what they're all about for anyone that might be interested in joining. I hope you all will help support their cause.

This Saturday's games will be the last of our regular season games. Its unbelievable how fast the season went. Following this week's games we will however be fortunate to have 3 more weeks of playoff games. We will be announcing the schedule for the playoff games after this week. The kids have really come a long way in their progress since the start of the season. I'm sure you all are looking forward to the final few weeks of the season and the action that it will have in store.

And on that note here is the schedule for this week.

BASEBALL FOR SATURDAY MAY 11

I hope everyone had a good May 1 holiday weekend and are ready for baseball action to resume. As we head into the second half of the season things are bound to heat up a little. Not only the temperatures but also the competition. I'd like to remind everyone that we are out here to learn and to have fun. Lets make sure we emphasize good sportsmanship on all fronts and at all times.

Here's the schedule for this week.
10:00 Tee Ball   Angels vs Orioles
9:30-10:30 Coach Pitch   A's vs Giants
10:30-11:45 Coach Pitch   Indians vs Red Sox
11:45-13:00 Coach Pitch   Dodgers vs Cubs
13:00-14:30 Machine Pitch   Cardinals vs Marlins
14:30-16:00 Machine Pitch   Diamondbacks vs White Sox
16:00-17:30 Machine Pitch   Phillies vs Mets
17:30-19:30 Senior Kid   Rays vs Rangers

And last but not least the Jeremy Guthrie update. In his last start against the White Sox for the first time in his career he threw a 4 hit complete game shut out. Not only was this an outstanding performance, Jeremy with that win now holds the Royals record for 17 consecutive games without a loss. Not too shabby. Congratualtions Jeremy from Madrid League Baseball !
