Hi Parents and Baseball Players!
Opening Day is next Saturday, March 4th and we are all excited to start the new baseball season!

I just wanted to send out a quick email to say a couple of things about this season and to let you know, apart from this email, you will usually be hearing from your player's coaches for any pertinent information and he/ she will be your direct contact for any team or game related topics.
Firstly, thank you very much for coming out and participating in Madrid League Baseball. Literally the league could not survive without you!
Madrid League Baseball Attitude: We want to create a very exciting and rewarding experience for the kids. So as parents, please come out, stay and cheer for your team! The best memory I still hold from my baseball days was when my parents would call out my name.

For the kids we just want them to do their best and have fun!

Practice Days: Please know that practice days Monday-Friday are optional. I know that it is difficult to get the kids to practice but please do you best at least one day if possible. Your coach will let know about having a practice either before or after your game each week on Saturday. This is really the most important to practice as a team. During the week, the practices are by league instead of individual teams. Baseball can be a dangerous game so the more practice the kids have with throwing and catching, the less injuries we will have.

Glove Sizes: On evaluation skills day, I saw a lot of players with gloves that looked too small. Below is a simple guide to help you know which size is best for your player.

Age
Infield
Outfield
Under 8 years old
9 inches
11 inches
Nine to 13 years old
9 to 10 Inches
11 to 12 Inches
High school and Adult
10.5 to 11.5 Inches
12 to 12.5 Inches

If your kid plays both infield and outfield, then a choose a glove that would be best for whichever position he plays most regularly.

Trades: After the first couple of games, we might ask you to trade your player to another team in order to have better balanced teams. Although winning is of course fun and competitiveness is important, we would like to try to avoid any one team completely dominating the others.

Team Photos: Saturday, March 25th will be team photo day. We simply ask that a parent takes a team photo with either their camera or phone and email it to me the following week so that I may post it up on the blog.

Updates, scores, highlights and rainout info: Each week we will update the blog with the scores from last game along with photos and highlights. This should also be the first place that you look for possible rainout information. Simply just look before you plan to leave you house on that particular day.
That is it for now. Again, thank you for coming out and we will see you on the ball field!

Now let's…..PLAY BALL!!!!
